Exploring Technology
Exploring Technology I Length: 1 semester / Fall semester Course Description: The student will explore and develop knowledge and skills in the area of technology. Students will build a foundation of technology through the exploration of woodworking and drafting. During the first quarter students will work individually to build a wooden step stool. Students will learn wood shop safety, specifically in the areas of machine safety and usage. Students will stain and finish the step stool when complete. During the second quarter, students will learn to use drafting tools and apply drawing & geometry techniques to complete assigned drawings. The drafting section is self paced with all drawings needing to be complete by the end of the quarter. |
Exploring Technology II
Length: 1 semester / Spring semester Course Description: The student will explore and develop knowledge and skills in the area of technology. Students will build a foundation of technology through the exploration of small engines and metals. During the third quarter, students will learn basic small engine principals of operation as well as be able to rebuild a small gas engine. Students will also complete service and general maintenance to small gas engines. During the fourth quarter, students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge in metals & welding by working in the shop on SMAW, GMAW and O/A welding. |
