8th grade Skilled and Technical science length: one quarter
The student learner will develop knowledge and skills in the area of technology. Students will develop a foundation of technology through the building of hands on projects.
Students will design and build a metric 500 Co2 race car, fabricate a sheet metal tool tray and construct a wooden toolbox.
Students will be able to take completed projects home.
The student learner will use hand and power tools to complete the projects while exploring and learning about manufacturing, construction and design principals.
8th Grade Problem solvers length: year long - a/b days
The student learner will explore and develop problem solving skills. Students will design and build projects such as a mouse trap racer, model bridge building, egg drop project and straw towers. Students will also develop team working and time management skills while working in class.
This class utilizes project based learning to build and develop problem solving skills.
Students will be encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA activities with projects built in this course.
